POLICIES
Deadlines
In video production, the workplace is deadline driven. Clients expect the work they paid for to be on time, and they want no excuses. This program is no different. There will be severe penalties for assignments and projects turned in late. Work is due at 3:00 PM on the date stated. You must seek special permission in advance if you wish to submit work late. Permission will be granted only in cases of extreme hardship.
Attendance
Please refer to Section II of the Student Handbook in regard to absences.
EXCUSED AND EXPLAINED ABSENCES
If I am notified in advance, work that would have come due during the session to be missed will be accepted in advance (without penalty) or afterward (with normal penalties applying). Special treatment is completely contingent on me being notified in advance.
Emergency absences unexpectedly arising from events beyond the student's control (serious illness requiring confinement or hospitalization, death of relatives permanently residing in the same household, etc.) will be dealt with on an individual basis.
In extreme cases, assignments may be accepted after the due date without penalty, and in-class exercises may be made up or "averaged over," as with excused, non-emergency absences.
To be eligible for consideration of the extra accommodations available for an emergency situation, the student involved must notify the instructor or the emergency dean as soon as the situation becomes apparent.
EXCESSIVE ABSENCES OR MISSING WORK
All absences and grades will be recorded. If it comes to, the instructor will report student's extreme lack of participation to parents and/or principal.

Grading
This program uses a technique known as portfolio grading — the same technique that employers use in evaluating your potential as a job candidate or your worth as an employee. Your final grade will be determined by simultaneously examining all the work you performed throughout the semester and seeing what it, as a whole, says about the degree to which you have mastered the subject matter.
It is very important to turn in each assignment and to try as hard as possible. You're here to learn. Doing each minor exercise will help identify areas in which you can improve and will go a long way toward preparing you for the major projects that have a bigger role in your final grade.
