A/V PRODUCTION
LESSON PLANS & SCHEDULE*

Students will complete several large projects this year that will require them to work both individually and in groups, while learning and using a number of different types of computer hardware, software and applications.. All of the projects they will complete this year will employ the following TEKS:
(2) The student applies academic knowledge and skills in audio and video projects. The student is expected to:
(A) apply English language arts knowledge and skills by demonstrating use of content, technical concepts, and vocabulary; using correct grammar, punctuation, and terminology to write and edit documents; and composing and editing copy for a variety of written documents such as scripts, captions, schedules, reports, and manuals by completing daily journals and work sheets
(B) apply mathematics knowledge and skills in invoicing and time-based mathematics by demonstrating knowledge of arithmetic operations and applying measurement to solve problems by counting needed materials for shoots in and out of class
(3) The student understands professional communications strategies. The student is expected to:
(A) adapt language for audience, purpose, situation, and intent through structure and style by analyzing genres and their numerous styles and themes
(B) organize oral and written information by giving presentations and journaling and note taking daily
(C) interpret and communicate information, data, and observations by participating in class discussions regarding studied material
(D) deliver formal and informal presentations by learning how to give a project pitch
(E) apply active listening skills by watching instructional videos and listening to daily lecture
(F) listen to and speak with diverse individuals by working in groups and being assigned different production roles
(G) exhibit public relations skills by understanding through video how to manipulate and control public perception
(4) The student understands and examines problem-solving methods. The student is expected to:
(A) employ critical-thinking skills independently and in groups by being assigned daily and weekly projects
(B) employ interpersonal skills in groups to solve problems by working in group projects almost daily
(5) The student uses technology applications and processes. The student is expected to:
(A) use technology applications such as social media, email, Internet, writing and publishing, presentation, and spreadsheet or database applications for audio and video production projects by using programs such as Adobe Premiere CS6, Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects, a Google Drive, Google Forms, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets and their school email to communicate instructor..
(B) use processes such as personal information management, file management, and file sharing by creating their personal class folders in a computer they will be using on a daily basis.

TEKS(7) The student applies safety regulations. The student is expected to: (A) implement personal and workplace safety rules and regulations; (B) follow emergency procedures; and (C) examine and summarize safety-related problems that may result from working on location. (16) The student understands the production process. The student is expected to: (A) implement a coherent sequence of events to successfully produce a script; (B) use lighting techniques, including three-point lighting, reflected light, color temperatures, and lighting filters; (C) employ audio techniques, including microphone variances and sound mixing; and (D) demonstrate knowledge of interpersonal skills with sensitivity to diversity when directing crew or talent. (15) The student understands the pre-production process.
