LAB/EQUIPMENT RULES
· Return to class from all outside shoots AT LEAST 5 MINUTES before the end of the class period. Failure to return a piece of equipment 5 minutes prior to end of class period is considered a major offense and will have consequences.
· All equipment (piece by piece) must be CHECKED OUT and CHECKED IN to the Teacher when conducting a video shoot on or off campus. This is “CHECK” time and is a VITAL process.
· ANY DAMAGES OR MISSING PIECES MUST BE REPORTED DURING CHECK-IN. Failure to follow this rule and/or abuse, neglect, or carelessness with equipment will result in possible loss of PRIVILEGES
- All departures must be handled through the Teacher. A detailed list of your destination(s) must be written down before you leave. All shoots must be pre-approved by the instructor before leaving.
- LABEL all items completely and return them to their appropriate storage area. Any lost items such as any video equipment; DVDs, SD Cards, etc. are your RESPONSIBILITY.
- Make sure your cameras securely attached to the tripod if you are using one.
- Do not leave or place the camera where it may be knocked over or bumped.
- Keep an eye on your camera every time it is in you possession. This is especially important in public. These cameras are small and can be taken quickly, and unfortunately, it happens.
- If the camera is damaged in any way while you are using it, let me know immediately, do not go into the TV/video repair business.
- All equipment must be transported in the proper case or compartment for each item, not carried by hand or tossed into a bag. Failure to follow this rule will result in definite expulsion from this department. All members checking out the equipment are responsible for its safe return.
- All broadcast media equipment belongs to the department and is assigned for school use only. Do not use school equipment for personal use. (NO weddings, vacation use, or birthdays!)
- Only VIDEO PRODUCTION students are permitted to operate the equipment. Do not let anyone else touch the departments’ equipment. If they break it, you pay for it. They can take the class if they want to have access to it.
Loss of privileges may include:
- inability to leave room & will have to complete an alternate assignment
- discipline referral
- payment for lost or damaged items
- parent/teacher conference

LAB RULES

2. System users may not participate in chat lines. This ties-up bandwidth.
3. You may not use another person’s password to gain access to their files.
4. You may not upload or download any programs to the system without Mr. Boberg's permission.
5. You may not bring disks or CDs from home or take them from the lab. All electronic-based work stays in the lab.
6. System users may not use the Alvin network for non-educational games—this also puts a heavy load on system resources.
7. Users shall not obtain copies of or modify files, passwords, or data that belong to anyone else.
8. Knowingly transmitting any material in violation of any federal or state law over the Alvin network is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, copyrighted material, threatening, harassing or obscene material, or material protected by trade secret.
9. You may not knowingly use the Alvin network for commercial, income-generating or “for-profit” activities. Product advertisements and political lobbying is prohibited.
Vandalism and Mischief Prohibited
You are assigned a location in the lab and are responsible for its cleanliness and the use of the electronics at that station. Do not change default settings. This includes font size, font style, backgrounds, screensavers, resolution, contrast, brightness, sound, icon configuration, etc. Any intentional manipulation of settings is considered vandalism by Alvin ISD and will be treated accordingly.
General Guidelines
1. Keep all food, drinks, gum, or candy AWAY FROM THE COMPUTERS at all times.
2. Use only your assigned computer.
3. Turn computer on/log on at the beginning of class, unless specified by teacher.
4. The only items around the computers are notepads, pencil/pen, and binder. All other items MUST be approved by the teacher.
5. Cabinets, offices, storage areas and printing area are off-limits.
6. Students are not allowed to sit on computer tables.
7. Report machine failure to the teacher immediately. Do NOT attempt to fix anything!
8. Reference books are for in-class use only.
9. The Internet is only to be used for education-based purposes. Proxy servers, games, Twitter, Facebook, etc. are all grounds for an automatic one-hour detention.
10. Save work early and often (at least every 10 minutes).
